THE [ bobbin ]

The number one most intimidating thing about sewing for beginners is that mysterious little bobbin thread. When I first learned how to use a sewing machine, I thought threading it was super intimidating.

Check out this video clip for easy to follow step by step instructions.

the best is yet to come

I recently decided it was time to refresh the art on this wall.

It gave me the perfect opportunity to paint out all of the frames and matting silver to  make them a little more cohesive with my curtains.

I whipped up this optimistic print in Adobe Photoshop and hung it in the middle frame. I had it printed on 8×10″ photo paper for $2.70 at a local Walgreens.

If you want to replicate the look, send me a message and I’ll send you the photo file! X

a peek inside my jewelry box

I was doing a little spring cleaning and organizing some of the pieces of jewelry stored away in my beautiful vintage jewelry box . After snapping a few shots, I realized that the white interior is the perfect back drop for testing out my new Sony a390.

I was impressed with the magazine quality that the white background gives each piece. I am so excited to share higher quality images of my crafty little adventures.

Stay tuned! X

You can’t fake fashion

As an aspiring designer, I really love this campaign between eBay and CFDA.

It went live yesterday March 20, 2012 and many of the designer customized bags are already sold out.

Check out this video clip describing the inspirations behind the designs:

There are still several CFDA options still for sale!

Shop them here and remember you can’t fake fashion! X

[ exfoliation ]

Are there things about your beauty routine that you change when winter turns to spring?

Since its the first day of spring, its time to talk about exfoliation.

To prep my skin for spring and summer’s golden rays, I have to get scrubbing!

1. Verbena Body Salt Scrub

2. Freeman’s Pomogrante Sugar Scrub

3. Lush Sugar Scrub

Slip a scrub into your shower routine twice a week for soft and smooth bikini ready skin!

What are your spring time favorites?

[ elements fashion show ]

When one of my favorite house bloggers, Amanda French of The House Blog invited me to go to the Elements Fashion Show with her, I jumped at the chance to go and check out the work of local designers.

Local hair stylists and make up artists volunteered their time to help benefit Wolfson Children’s hospital.

The show featured designs that represented the elements of earth, wind, fire and water.

The local designers that were featured include: Zula Khramov,  Juli Turchin-Chudnovsky, Erin Rossie Healy, and Argie Mitra.

During the show, guest enjoyed drinks and tapas from Suite in the Markets of Town Center.

How stylish were the guests in attendance?

For more information about the Elements of Style show check out their website and to see what I wore in my next post! X

fashion photography

Tomorrow night, I am going to be attending and covering a local fashion show featuring new designers. It’s the first show that I will be covering as press from thenagashi.com.

I have been browsing some of the beautiful shots from Style.com for inspiration for tomorrow night.

I don’t know if I can compete with the photography skills of Tommy Town but I will attempt it and updated you over the weekend! X
